In 1980, June Peppas initiated a newsletter to try and get in touch with former players from the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. From this newsletter the first women’s baseball reunion was held in 1982. A player’s association was formed and continues today. In the early 1940″s the United States saw it’s first professional women’s baseball league, it was called The All American League. 1954 was the last existing year for the league. PostHeaderIcon Top Womens Baseball Hitters Of All Time

Only a few woman have broken into the world of men’s major league baseball. Some of the names included are Lizzie Arlington, one of the first woman to play professional baseball in the 19th century. Also in that list was Ila Borders, the first female pitcher to compete in the NCAA college baseball league. Among these First woman to compete in a professional baseball league in 1953 was Toni Stone, Also know by her married name Mercenia Lyle Alberga.
